On October 26, the four key frames of the MTO (Methanol-to-Olefins) unit of the Inner Mongolia Rongxin Methanol-to-Olefins Project, constructed by the Second Engineering Company of Sinopec Fourth Construction Co., Ltd., successfully reached the top (capping).
The annual 800,000-ton olefins project of Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd. has a total investment of 9.83 billion yuan and covers an area of 1,887 mu. It mainly involves the new construction of an 800,000-ton/year methanol-to-olefins unit, a 400,000-ton/year polyethylene unit, a 400,000-ton/year polypropylene unit, a 15,000-ton/year 1-butene unit, and supporting public and auxiliary facilities.
With methanol as the raw material, the project adopts the industry-leading third-generation DMTO technology developed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This technology has significantly improved the raw material conversion rate, reduced the methanol consumption per ton of olefins to 2.66 tons/ton, remarkably lowered the production cost per unit product, and enhanced market competitiveness. At the same time, it uses the slurry process to produce high-density polyethylene and the new-generation loop technology to produce polypropylene, laying a solid foundation for high-end, diversified, and low-carbon development.
