While the mainstream ex-factory price of local first-class calcium carbide has been about 3650-3700 yuan/ton, some transactions ended up at a lower price. The downstream PVC market has warmed up in recent two days, still unable to form strong support for the calcium carbide market. Running at a steady utilization rate, local calcium carbide manufacturers still find it difficult to raise the quotation under the pressure from downstream sectors to keep down the prices. Recently, as the weather conditions have improved in northern parts of China, abundant volume of carbide goods have been delivered to downstream sectors thanks to smooth logistics. Therefore, it is expected that the calcium carbide market is not likely to improve in Gansu.
