Due to the weakening demand in the holiday season, the European ethylene spot prices fell to the lowest level since April of this year. August 15th, the N. W. European ethylene spot prices were assessed at a monthly contract price discount of 5% for August and September. Ethylene spot price was assessed at 871 Euros per ton (973 U.S. dollars/t), the price fell by 15 Euros compared to the previous week. The main reason for the weakness in the sale of derivatives is the summer vacation and the ethylene contract price in August fell by 20 Euros to 925 Euros per ton.
