Oman English newspaper reported that Oman′s first use of photovoltaic power generation salt processing plant will be completed and put into production in the three quarter of 2017. The factory is located in Ras Bantoot near the Dokkum prot, built by Al-Ghalbi international engineering contract firms, invested nearly $26 million. After the completion, an annual output of 135 thousand tons of industrial salt will be reached in the country. The project is one of the key projects supported by the national government to alleviate industrial salt dependence on import. A year of industrial salt demand stands at about 500 thousand tons, mainly imported from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other countries.
