At the press conference of the National Development and Reform Commission（NDRC） on May 21, Li Chao, deputy director of the Policy Research Office and spokesperson of NDRC, pointed out that they would work with relevant parties to achieve practical results and continue to make efforts in energy conservation and carbon reduction.

It is reported that May 13 to 19 is the 34th National Energy Conservation Promotion Week. The theme of the 2024 Energy Conservation Promotion Week is "Green Transformation, Energy-saving Endeavors". It aims to intensify energy conservation and carbon reduction efforts based on the goals and tasks of the "14th Five-Year Plan", deeply exchange work experiences, comprehensively initiate energy efficiency diagnosis, vigorously promote advanced technologies, take multiple measures to continuously reduce energy consumption intensity, and accelerate the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.

Li Chao stated that the work of energy conservation and carbon reduction will not end with the conclusion of the National Energy Conservation Promotion Week, but instead, it will be integrated into all aspects of social production and life. In the next step, the NDRC will work with relevant parties to achieve practical results and continue to make efforts in energy conservation and carbon reduction. First, strengthen energy conservation and carbon reduction efforts in the last two years of the "14th Five-Year Plan". Second, implement targeted energy conservation and carbon reduction actions in different sectors and industries. Third, improve the long-term mechanism for energy conservation and carbon reduction management. Fourth, create a strong atmosphere of energy conservation and carbon reduction throughout society.
