Jianghan Salt Chemical Expands Hydrogen Sales through Industrial Park Collaboration

Sinopec Jianghan Salt Chemical Hubei Co., Ltd. has actively promoted the comprehensive utilization of hydrogen energy and collaborated with enterprises in Qianjiang Jianghan Salt Chemical Industrial Park in Hubei Province to create a green and low-carbon production model. From January to May, it has produced more than 2,500 tons of hydrogen cumulatively.
Jianghan Salt Chemical is a comprehensive chemical enterprise established by Jianghan Oilfield using underground salt brine resources. Salt brine is extracted from underground, and while producing refined salt and edible salt, it electrolyzes saltwater to produce chlorine, caustic soda, hydrogen, and other salt chemical products, which are sold externally as chemical raw materials and fuels. Jianghan Salt Chemical Industry actively expands the sales channels of hydrogen and other products, extends the industrial chain, and jointly attracts multiple chemical enterprises with the Qianjiang government to establish the Jianghan Salt Chemical Industrial Park.
As hydrogen is a flammable and explosive gas, it is inconvenient for long-distance transportation. In the early years of the plant¡äs construction, the annual production capacity was only several hundred tons. Due to limitations in transportation capacity and radius, coupled with insufficient market development efforts, only a small portion of the hydrogen was sold externally through compressed cylinders. With the development of Jianghan Salt Chemical, the production scale has continuously expanded, and the annual production of hydrogen has reached 5,000 tons. To effectively reduce production costs and transportation risks, Jianghan Salt Chemical has begun to utilize pipeline transportation to sell hydrogen externally.
Jianghan Salt Chemical has strengthened the monitoring of hydrogen processing equipment status, with regular inspections and careful operation by on-site employees. Strict control of process parameters has been implemented, and a hydrogen analysis room has been set up with online hydrogen analyzers installed to ensure stable hydrogen quality, achieving a purity of 99.95%.
Currently, relying on the high-quality and efficient supply of salt brine chemical raw materials, the Jianghan Salt Chemical Industrial Park has successively attracted optical fiber enterprises from Japan, France, and other countries. Three major industrial areas have been established: the New Chemical Industry Park, Changfei Qianjiang Science and Technology Park, and Qianjiang Microelectronics Industry Park, with a total of 26 enterprises.
