In early summer, Hunan Petrochemical′s annual production of 50,000 tons of environmentally friendly epichlorohydrin industrial demonstration plant project entered its peak installation period, with more than 180 builders intensifying their work every day. During the project construction, the resin department of Hunan Petrochemical adheres to a systematic approach, strictly controls safety, and enhances the contractor′s independent safety management level through HSE standardized management and the creation of "zero violation" construction sites. The safety team closely monitors the site, strengthens daily inspections, weekly joint inspections, and monthly special inspections to ensure that all safety measures are implemented effectively. At present, 96.09% of the steel structure installation and 69.44% of the equipment installation have been completed in this project, achieving 462,600 safe labor hours.

Epichlorohydrin is feedstock for manufacturing epoxy resin. In order to enhance the competitiveness of green development in the resin industry chain, Hunan Petrochemical has developed an original new clean production process technology for epichlorohydrin with complete independent intellectual property rights. In June 2023, Hunan Petrochemical fully started the construction of an annual production of 50,000 tons of environmentally friendly epichlorohydrin industrial demonstration plant project by this original process technology. The project has been included in the "14th Five Year Plan" of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the "Ten Dragons" key engineering project for scientific and technological research and development of Sinopec. As it is planned to be completed and put into operation in March 2025, all the produced epichlorohydrin will be used as feedstocks for the production of epoxy resin by Hunan Petrochemical.
