Recently, Shandong Shouguang Xinglu New Materials Co., Ltd. has received approval and released a public notice for its 200,000-tonne 1,2-dichloroethane project.
Located within the existing plant area of Shandong Xinglu New Materials Co., Ltd. in Shouguang Yangkou Chemical Industry Park, the project primarily encompasses the construction of warehouses, factories, control rooms, laboratories, equipment cabinets, and more.
Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) is a colorless or light-yellow transparent liquid with a boiling point of 83.5ˇăC. It is classified as a hazardous chemical and serves as the primary raw material to produce vinyl chloride via the ethylene route, with over 95% of global EDC usage dedicated to this purpose. Furthermore, EDC has applications in the production of chlorinated solvents such as trichloroethylene, ethylamine, vinylidene chloride, and trichloroethane. It also acts as an intermediate in the manufacture of tetrachloroethylene. In the pharmaceutical industry, EDC is a raw material to produce insecticides like methoprene and piperazine. During the production of tetrachloroethane, EDC functions as an intermediate. Additionally, it serves as a chemical agent in the production of hexachlorophene. Moreover, EDC can be used as a solvent for fats, waxes, and glues, as well as a detergent, extractor, pesticide, and metal degreaser. It also finds use as an azeotropic agent for recovering aqueous acetic acid.
