Shandong Energy Rongxin Chemical¡¯s 800,000-ton Olefin Project Starts Construction

On 14th July, an annual production of 800,000 tons of olefins project under the Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd invested and built by Shandong Energy Group officially started construction.
Settled in Dalate Economic Development Zone, Ordos City in 2009, Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd. is a coal conversion enterprise under Shandong Energy Group. With an investment of 13 billion yuan, the company completed the first phase of the 900,000 ton/year coal to methanol project and the second phase of the 400,000 ton/year coal to ethylene glycol project. Since its launch in 2014, a total of 14 million tons of major chemical products such as methanol and ethylene glycol have been produced.
The annual production of 800,000 tons of olefins project is located in Dalate Economic Development Zone, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with a total investment of 9.83 billion yuan and an area of 1887 acres. The project mainly includes the construction of 800,000 tons/year methanol to olefin plant, 400,000 tons/year polyethylene plant, 400,000 tons/year polypropylene plant, 15,000 tons/year 1-butene plant and supporting public and auxiliary facilities. With methanol as feedstock, the project adopts MTO technology to generate polymer grade ethylene and polymer grade propylene monomers, which are then polymerized to produce high-density polyethylene and high-performance polypropylene products. At the same time, by-products such as 1-butene, isobutane, C5+ and MTBE are manufactured. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2026.
