Trial Production of a Propane Dehydrogenation and Epoxy Propane Project in Shandong

On July 29th, in Dongying Port Economic Development Zone, a propane dehydrogenation and epoxy propane project under Zhenhua Petrochemical entered the trial production stage.
This project mainly involves the construction of a 750,000 ton/year propane dehydrogenation unit, a 30/670,000 ton/year epoxy propane/styrene combined unit, a 200,000 ton/year maleic anhydride unit, and supporting public systems, tank areas and torches. After production, it will bring an average annual sales revenue of 35.6 billion yuan, an increase of 8 billion yuan in profits and taxes, and more than 1000 new jobs, "said Yang Lei, project leader and vice president of Yatong Petrochemical Group.
Characterized by remarkable agglomeration effect, this project fully integrates the resources of Yatong Petrochemical Group and other enterprises in the development zone by processing low value-added propane and butane into high value-added chemical products such as polymer grade propylene, epichlorohydrin, styrene, and maleic anhydride so as to provide basic chemical raw materials for downstream enterprises in the surrounding area. Therefore, a good upstream and downstream raw material supply relationship will be formed between affiliated enterprises when the degree of collaboration between enterprises and products continues to improve. Key enterprises can achieve pipeline transportation "wall supply" with high efficiency, minimal loss, and low cost.
During the production process, 550 million standard cubic meters per year of industrial hydrogen will be produced as a byproduct and supplied to Yatong Petrochemical and surrounding petrochemical enterprises. The heat released from the reaction process can also be utilized to produce medium pressure steam for the enterprise¡äs own use, thereby significantly reducing carbon emissions.
Dongying Port Economic Development Zone will focus on "strengthening the leading role, supplementing the chain and gathering clusters" as it strives to attract investment, launch projects, and strengthen the park, promoting the high-quality development of the park and achieving new breakthroughs.
