Recently, the Zhongji Chenghang lithium carbonate purification project (Phase I) located in Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, has officially commenced operation.

This project, a key investment attraction endeavor focusing on strategic emerging industries in Pingding County, is undertaken by Shanxi Zhongji Chenghang New Energy Co., Ltd. with a planned investment of RMB 120 million. It is designed to produce 5,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate annually.

According to introductions, battery-grade lithium carbonate serves as a vital cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, primarily used in the production of lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide, lithium iron phosphate, and other lithium-ion battery components. As electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles gain popularity, the market demand for battery-grade lithium carbonate is projected to surge.

During the construction phase, Shanxi Zhongji Chenghang New Energy Co., Ltd. added new production equipment such as carbonization and purification units, filtration and impurity removal thermal decomposition units, and centrifugal separators, as well as auxiliary facilities like carbon dioxide storage tanks and cooling towers, within the existing workshop buildings. A steel structure platform was also constructed to support the project′s production capabilities.
