Xinjiang Tianye¡äs New Ethylene-based PVC Project by Ethanol

Against the backdrop of the green and low-carbon transformation of energy, Xinjiang Tianye Group from the perspective of reshaping the industrial structure, plans the "annual output of 1.5 million tons of intelligent ecological photovoltaic-coupled green special resin project", creating a large-scale and integrated "coal chemical - salt chemical - intelligent ecological photovoltaic" circular economy industrial chain, and realizing the transformation of the chlor-alkali chemical industry from high energy consumption to low-carbon and green development. Three raw materials including coal, limestone and crude salt are required in the original process route of Tianye Group. With new technologies and new processes, limestone is abandoned, reducing raw material consumption by 60%, energy consumption by 40%, and carbon dioxide generation by 40%, thus creating a complete, high-yield, and green new production route for polyvinyl chloride.
On August 23, the Eighth Division Ecological Environment Bureau published the notice on the approval opinions of the environmental impact assessment documents for the intelligent ecological photovoltaic-coupled green special resin low-carbon transformation and upgrading demonstration project (phase I) of Xinjiang Tianye (Group) Co., Ltd.
The project plans to build a 350,000-ton/year ion-exchange membrane caustic soda plant and a 500,000-ton/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin plant.
Construction location: 147th Regiment, Shihezi City, Eighth Division, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
Project investment: 13,966,643,600 yuan, of which environmental protection investment is 526.72 million yuan.
Construction content and scale: This project is new construction. It mainly includes air separation unit, gasification unit, shift and heat recovery unit, purification unit (low-temperature methanol washing unit), PSA hydrogen production unit, CO purification unit, sulfur recovery unit, ethanol unit, ethylene unit, polyvinyl chloride unit, ion-exchange membrane caustic soda unit, as well as relevant public auxiliary supporting facilities such as desalinated water station, circulating water station, and sewage treatment station.
Relying on its regional abundant resources such as coal, salt, and limestone, Xinjiang Tianye focuses on green modern chemical industry and has formed a relatively complete integrated industrial linkage green and environmentally friendly circular economy industrial chain of "captive power ¡ú calcium carbide ¡ú polyvinyl chloride resin and by-products ¡ú cement production from calcium carbide slag and other wastes".
The company¡äs fundraising projects, the annual output of 250,000 tons of ultra-high purity alcohol-based fine chemicals project and the annual output of 225,000 tons of high-performance resin raw material project, are expected to be put into production in the second half of 2024. It is expected to add new production capacities of 250,000 tons/year of high-purity ethanol and 225,000 tons/year of ethylene-based VCM.
