Guangdong Petrochemical¡äs Annual Ethylene Production Exceeds 1.2 Million Tons for the First Time

Recently, good news came from China Petroleum Guangdong Petrochemical Company that as of the end of 2024, ethylene production has exceeded 1.2 million tons per year, reaching the design scale 50 days ahead of schedule. Since its commissioning last year, the ethylene plant has produced a total of 2.25 million tons of ethylene, providing sufficient support for the Guangdong Petrochemical project to quickly meet production standards.
Cracking furnace is a major energy consumer in ethylene production facilities. The production capacity and technology of cracking furnace determine the production scale, output, product quality, and energy consumption of the entire ethylene plant. It plays a leading role in ethylene production facilities and even the entire petrochemical production.
Li Shengli, Secretary of the Party Committee and Manager of Chemical Industry Department 1, introduced that there are a total of 8 cracking furnaces in the ethylene unit of Chemical Industry Department 1. In order to improve the thermal efficiency of the cracking furnaces and extend the operating cycle of the cracking furnaces, they optimize the operation of the cracking furnaces, strictly control the oxygen content in the furnace at 1.7-2%, regularly measure the temperature of the furnace tubes, use IPC system to control the COT temperature deviation within 5 ¡æ, continuously adjust the dilution ratio, optimize the coking scheme, carry out one furnace, one meter team responsibility, and carry out full process control of interlocking, alarm, inspection of the cracking furnaces to comprehensively improve the operation level of the cracking furnaces.
In addition, Guangdong Petrochemical Company continues to organize optimization and research, optimizing the structure of ethylene raw materials to make them lighter, improving the composition of by-product gas raw materials, reducing the content of LPG isoparaffins, and carrying out refined operations in each distillation tower. The annual cumulative yield of ethylene products has reached over 40.93%, and the yield of diene has reached over 57.29%, reaching a leading level among similar units of traditional ethylene raw materials. In October this year, it was rated as a benchmark unit for energy efficiency by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.
Since the facility was fully put into operation, the production load has been maintained at 80% to 103%. In the process of increasing rates, the instability of the raw materials has brought significant pressure to the ethylene production. Guangdong Petrochemical Company has established a research and development team to conduct in-depth industry benchmarking, optimize and improve operational operations. The operation of the equipment has become increasingly stable and efficient, with its various production and operation data hitting new records. The highest monthly ethylene yield is 43.25%, and the lowest monthly energy consumption is 511 kilograms of standard oil/ton, setting the best level for similar equipment in China.
The longest operating cycle of a single gas furnace is 101 days, and the longest operating cycle of a single liquid furnace is 84 days. The thermal efficiency of the cracking furnace is over 94.7%, and the average NOx emissions from flue gas are controlled at around 25mg/m3, reaching the leading level in the industry. Currently, 8 ethylene plants have started operating at full load, with a maximum daily ethylene production of 4015 tons.
