2024-11-20
On November 18th, the second-phase project of Fujian Gulei Refining and Petrochemical Integration Project, which is the largest industrial project in Fujian Province in terms of investment scale so far, with a total investment of 71.1 billion yuan, commenced.
This project is jointly constructed by Sinopec, Fujian Refining and Petrochemical Company, and Saudi Aramco. It is expected to be fully put into production in 2030. After completion, it can supply 5 million tons of raw materials to the Gulei Petrochemical Base every year, which will further improve the industrial chain of the Gulei Petrochemical Base and promote the high-end, intelligent, and green development of the petrochemical industry.
This project is an important part of the new pattern of comprehensive energy cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia. It is planned to construct facilities such as a 16-million-ton-per-year oil refining unit, a 1.5-million-ton-per-year ethylene unit, a 2-million-ton-per-year p-xylene and downstream derivative units, as well as supporting projects like a 300,000-ton-class crude oil terminal. It is understood that this project adopts advanced and mature technologies, with many process technologies leading the world. Five patented technologies are major technologies encouraged by the state, effectively reducing project investment, energy consumption, and enhancing benefits.
