The Progress of Technologies for Producing Propylene Oxide by the CHP Method
2024-12-11
On December 2nd, the "Development and Industrial Application of the Complete Set of Technologies for Producing 150,000 Tons per Year of Propylene Oxide by the CHP Method (S-APO)" jointly completed by Shanghai Research Institute, Tianjin Petrochemical Corporation, Shanghai Engineering Company and Qingdao Safety Engineering Institute passed the appraisal by the Science and Technology Department of the group company. The overall technology has reached the international leading level. This technology will inject new impetus into further improving the production level of green propylene oxide in China, the structural adjustment of the petrochemical industry and the development of the green high-end new materials industry.
The research team of Shanghai Research Institute started the research on catalysts for producing propylene oxide by the CHP method in 2004. After 20 years of innovation, it has developed the complete set of S-APO technologies that are safe, efficient, green and environmentally friendly and with excellent product quality. The plants applying this technology have low consumption of materials and energy, low investment, small occupied area and low wastewater discharge, with remarkable economic and social benefits.
The industrial plant of Tianjin Petrochemical Corporation for producing 150,000 tons per year of propylene oxide by the CHP method, which applies this technology, completed the full-load calibration on June 30th this year. All technical indicators have comprehensively exceeded the research goals. The purity of the propylene oxide product exceeds 99.99%. The product has been successfully applied in multiple customer enterprises such as those for high-end polyether. In addition, the technology package of the 300,000 tons per year S-APO technology developed based on this technology has completed the technology license in two domestic enterprises and is planned to be officially put into production next year.
