On December 5th, the annual ethylene production of the Tarim 600,000 ton/year ethane to ethylene unit of Dushanzi Petrochemical Company reached 601,400 tons, breaking through the designed output 26 days ahead of schedule and setting a historical record.

Tarim Ethylene is a national demonstration project in China′s ethylene industry that relies on "self-owned resources + self-owned technology" to achieve the maximum value-added of the overall industry chain of "natural gas-ethane-ethylene". Since its commissioning, the ethylene cracking unit has operated for a total of 447 days, producing 1.95 million tons of ethylene and selling 1.948 million tons of polyethylene products.

Dushanzi Petrochemical focuses on ensuring the supply of ethylene raw materials, closely communicating with Tarim Oilfield, coordinating the stable supply of ethane raw materials from upstream, and achieving sufficient and high-quality supply. Besides, the company optimizes production and operation, break through difficult and key issues, organize the completion of device high load calibration, and solve key problems such as long-term unqualified pH value and iron ions in the lower tower of the quench water tower. There have been no unplanned shutdowns throughout the year. In addition, Dushanzi Petrochemical has implemented energy-saving and water-saving measures for its facilities, as well as measures to solidify and tap into potential for increased efficiency. To do so, the thermal efficiency of the heating furnace has increased by 0.5 percentage points, and the raw water consumption has decreased by 230,000 tons year-on-year. Research has been conducted on recycling measures and replacement methods, contributing to an average savings of 45 tons of ethylene or ethane per single spherical tank. The comprehensive energy consumption of ethylene is 381.19 kilograms of standard oil per ton, reaching the best level since production began.
