The Power Source Project in Qinghai Province Commences Construction
2025-2-27
On February 26, the power source project in Qinghai Province commenced construction in Golmud, Qinghai. The project has the largest scale, the largest total investment and the highest proportion of new energy nationwide.
This project is invested and constructed by China Huadian Corporation LTD. With a total investment of approximately 80 billion yuan, the total construction scale is 19.24 million kilowatts. It is planned in an integrated manner of wind power, photovoltaic power, thermal power, and energy storage, and the installed capacity of new energy accounts for 85%. After the project is completed and put into operation, it can transmit about 36.5 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy to Guangxi every year through the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" UHV DC power transmission channel, which is the first cross-provincial and cross-business-region UHV power transmission-out channel in the country. This is equivalent to 14% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society in Guangxi in 2024, and it will effectively alleviate the contradiction between the supply and demand of electricity in Guangxi.
At the same time, the project constructor will systematically promote a number of key research topics such as the "Demonstration Test of the Integrated Design and Operation Technology of Source-Grid-Load-Storage Integration and Multi-energy Complementary Integration" and the "Research and Application of the Digital and Intelligent Wind and Photovoltaic Power Station System", and form a joint force for collaborative innovation by uniting the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, so as to achieve the innovative demonstration application of "Photovoltaic +" and "Digital and Intelligent +" in the base, and deeply expand the innovative practice of electric power technology.
In addition, by implementing the integrated development model of desert control combining "photovoltaic power generation + ecological governance", this project will effectively control the desert, improve the ecology, and increase the value of land use, achieving a win-win situation between photovoltaic power generation and the restoration of vegetation and improvement of the ecology.
