On February 28th, the Hazardous Chemical Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management was set up in Beijing. Vice Ministers of the Ministry of Emergency Management, Hu Minglang and Song Yuanming, unveiled the plaque for the Hazardous Chemicals Safety Research Center.

The establishment of the Hazardous Chemicals Safety Research Center is a major step to put in place General Secretary Xi Jinping′s important instructions on safety production. It is of great significance for strengthening technical support for hazardous chemical safety supervision, boosting the high-quality development of the chemical industry and improving the ability to ensure the safety of hazardous chemicals. The name of the Hazardous Chemicals Safety Research Center is attached to the China Academy of Safety Science and Technology, mainly responsible for basic, comprehensive, and forward-looking scientific research in the field of hazardous chemicals, development of major production safety accident prevention, early warning, and rescue technologies, research on hazardous chemical safety related theories, standards, and technologies, academic exchanges, talent cultivation, and other work.

It is reported that the Hazardous Chemical Safety Research Center will closely focus on the national hazardous chemical safety supervision work, build the most authoritative hazardous chemical safety think tank platform, and provide strong support for the formulation of national hazardous chemical safety strategies, policies, laws, regulations, and standards, the improvement of hazardous chemical safety science and technology level and regulatory capabilities and the emergency management and investigation of hazardous chemical accidents.
