In recent days, Evonik has signed a license agreement with China Pingmei Shenma Group Nylon Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Shenma) to authorize Shenma to use Evonik’s hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production technology to build a large-scale hydrogen peroxide plant with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons in Pingdingshan City, Henan Province. This agreement with Shenma is Evonik′s third hydrogen peroxide production authorization project in China. The signing ceremony kicked off on March 5, 2025 in Pingdingshan. Hydrogen peroxide produced by the new factory will be exclusively used by Shenma for the production of caprolactam, an important monomer material for nylon 6, and the factory is expected to start production in 2026.

Shenma holds an important position in China′s chemical fiber industry, with production layout covering the entire industry chain of nylon 6 and nylon 66. The company plans to increase its annual production capacity of caprolactam to 600,000 tons by 2026. By synchronously upgrading its hydrogen peroxide production technology and capacity, Shenma will further ensure the supply safety and product quality of caprolactam production. Evonik′s fluidized bed technology will enable Shenma to meet the latest and strictest national process safety requirements for hydrogen peroxide production.
