Recently, four key units of Maoming Petrochemical′s project for the transformation and upgrading of its refining business and the quality improvement of ethylene have officially started construction. So far, 59 out of the 112 main items of this upgrading and renovation project have started construction.

The projects that have started construction this time include a 500,000-ton-per-year No. 1 pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation unit, a 300,000-ton-per-year No. 2 aromatics extraction unit, a 150,000-ton-per-year MTBE unit, and a 140,000-ton-per-year No. 3 butadiene unit. After the project is completed and put into operation, it can significantly reduce the yield of refined oil products. Nearly one million tons of high-value-added chemical products will be newly added every year, which will help improve the integration level of Maoming Petrochemical′s refining and chemical business and form a synergistic effect of the regional industrial cluster. At the same time, it will further strengthen the raw material support capacity for the high-end manufacturing industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and inject new impetus into the high-quality development of the regional economy.
