The 100,000-Ton-Per-Year BDO Project in Shouguang, Shandong Province Has Been Successfully Put into Operation

Recently, after more than a year of hard work, the 100,000-ton-per-year BDO project invested 650 million yuan by Shouguang Lianmeng Petrochemical Co., Ltd. successfully produced the first batch of products at 22:48 on March 20, 2025, officially announcing the project¡äs operation. This is an important milestone in the transformation and development process of Shouguang Lianmeng Petrochemical.
The project adopts the top technology in the industry¡ªthe maleic anhydride esterification and hydrogenation process of the British company Davy. Compared with the traditional process, the carbon emissions per ton of products have been sharply reduced to one-fourth of the original amount, and the purity of BDO products has reached to 99.85%, far higher than the standard of 99.5% in the traditional process. It can not only be directly exported to the EU market, but also strongly replace imported products.
It is reported that as a major implementation project in Shandong Province in 2024, the project has a total investment of 3.35 billion yuan and is constructed in two phases. The first phase is to build a 100,000-ton-per-year BDO production unit, and the second phase is to build a 200,000-ton-per-year maleic anhydride production unit and a 60,000-ton-per-year PBAT/PBS biodegradable plastic production unit. The advanced maleic anhydride esterification and hydrogenation technology is introduced, with less waste and low energy consumption. Both the product quality and the intelligent level of the device have reached the international advanced level.
