PetroChina¡äs 1.2 Million Tons/Year Ethylene Project About to Start Production

A 1.2 million ton ethylene plant project has entered the final stage in the eastern area of China Petroleum Jilin Petrochemical Company. The workers are conducting pipeline pressure testing, oil transportation of compressor units and single machine testing.
As the core unit of Jilin Petrochemical¡äs refining and chemical transformation and upgrading project, the ethylene plant has a total investment of 3.729 billion yuan and covers an area of 118600 square meters. It adopts the CBL cracking technology and LECT separation technology independently developed by China Petroleum Engineering Construction Co., Ltd. After operation, it can produce 1.2 million tons of polymer grade ethylene and 587,000 tons of polymer grade propylene annually. By then, as the total ethylene production capacity of Jilin Petrochemical will reach 1.9 million tons per year, the ethylene production capacity and chemical scale will reach the advanced level in China. The effect of "reducing oil and increasing chemical production" will be significant, forming an industrial layout and product structure with Jilin Petrochemical¡äs characteristics and competitive advantages.
In terms of chemicals, it will produce a 1.2 million ton/year ethylene plant, while downstream supporting facilities will include a 1 million ton/year cracking gasoline hydrogenation unit, a 450,000 ton/year aromatic extraction complex, a 400,000 ton/year high-density polyethylene unit, a 300,000 ton/year ethylene oxide unit, a 400,000 ton/year EVA unit, a 350,000 ton/year phenol acetone unit, a 240,000 ton/year bisphenol A unit, a 40,000 ton/year ethylene propylene rubber unit, a 10/40,000 ton/year MTBE/1-butene unit, a 600,000 ton/year styrene unit, a 260,000 ton/year acrylonitrile unit, a 600,000 ton/year ABS unit, an 800,000 ton/year solvent deasphalting unit, a 160,000 ton/year asphalt gasification unit, a 50,000 ton/year butadiene rubber unit, a 200,000 ton/year butadiene extraction unit, and a 8000 ton/year acetonitrile unit.
The Jilin Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Transformation and Upgrading Project is a strategic initiative for the high-quality development of China¡äs petroleum refining business and the strategic optimization and adjustment of the refining business layout in Northeast China. It has significant importance and long-term impact. The project commenced construction on September 25, 2022, with the aim of achieving delivery for most of the equipment by the end of 2024 and putting it into operation by 2025.
