The Wind and Solar Hydrogen Production Project in Uxin Banner of Zhongtianhechuang Energy Commences

Recently, Zhongtianhechuang Energy held the groundbreaking ceremony for the hydrogen production project of the integrated wind and solar hydrogen production project in Uxin Banner, marking that the largest green electricity hydrogen production project in the country has entered the fast lane of construction. It is understood that the total investment of this project exceeds 5 billion yuan, mainly including five parts: wind power generation and photovoltaic power generation, power transmission and transformation, water electrolysis hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen transportation.
The project utilizes the abundant solar and wind energy resources in the Ordos region to generate electricity and directly produce hydrogen. The designed production scale of green hydrogen is 30,000 tons per year, with the newly built photovoltaic power generation capacity of 236.8 MW and the wind power generation capacity of 450 MW. In addition, the project also includes a 220-kilovolt step-up substation, a 220-kilovolt transmission line with a length of 60.36 kilometers, a 220-kilovolt step-down substation, and a hydrogen production plant, equipped with 52 alkaline electrolyzers and relevant supporting facilities. The green hydrogen and green oxygen produced by the project will be transported through pipelines to various devices of the company¡äs green carbon reduction and upgrading project, replacing the existing gray hydrogen produced from coal, promoting the clean and low-carbon transformation of coal chemical products, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 700,000 tons per year.
After the project is put into operation, it will effectively solve a number of technical problems in hydrogen production under the condition of renewable fluctuating power sources, play a positive role in promoting the research on key technical standards and specifications for large-scale new energy hydrogen production, and expand the utilization modes of wind energy and solar energy. At the same time, based on the coupling of green electricity, green oxygen, green hydrogen, and carbon emission reduction, it will achieve the functions of extending, supplementing, and strengthening the existing coal chemical industry chain, which is of great significance for promoting the stable consumption of wind and solar power and the transformation and upgrading of the coal chemical industry.
