Yulin¡äs 5-Million-Ton-Level New-Type Coal-Chemical Project Launched

Recently, the Yulin Coal-to-Clean Fuel Upgrade Demonstration Project was officially signed and implemented. This project is committed to building the world¡äs largest coal-to-clean fuel base, and this signing marks that the construction of the project has entered a new stage.

The overall planned production capacity of the project reaches 5 million tons. The first-phase investment is 52.9 billion yuan, and a coal-based super factory with an annual output of 2.4 million tons will be built. After the project is completed, it is expected to have an annual output value of over 60 billion yuan and create more than 20,000 jobs. At the same time, this project will also break the foreign monopoly on key materials such as POE photovoltaic encapsulant films and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, and increase the localization rate of related materials to 95%.

The project covers an area of 9,954 mu and is equipped with 13 advanced technical devices, including the world¡äs largest single-unit 9¡Á220,000-cubic-meter coal gasification system and a CO₂ capture device with an annual carbon capture capacity of 4 million tons. In addition, the project also integrates three globally innovative technologies and be supported by the construction of three coal mines.

In terms of green transformation, the project has achieved remarkable results. The sulfur content of the coal-based ultra-clean gasoline and diesel produced is lower than 1 ppm, which is 90% lower than the Euro VI standard. At the same time, the project will be supported by the construction of a photovoltaic hydrogen production base, with the goal of achieving a 30% green hydrogen substitution rate, and will lay out a million-ton-level biodegradable material production line to help solve the problem of "white pollution". It is understood that through CCUS technology, 2.8 tons of CO₂ can be stored for every 1 ton of fuel produced, which is equivalent to planting 150 trees every year and can effectively reduce carbon emissions.

The implementation of this project is not only a breakthrough for China in the field of clean coal utilization but also will provide a valuable "Chinese solution" for the global energy transformation, helping to achieve the goal of green, low-carbon and sustainable development.
