The Chemical Products Project of Wanhua Wharf at Yantai Port Recently Went into Operation

Recently, the chemical products project of Wanhua Wharf at Yantai Port of Shandong Port was officially put into operation. With the first batch of ships carrying ethane and naphtha berthing at the wharf for operation, the unloaded chemical products reached the tank farm in the chemical industrial park efficiently through the newly built DN800 double pipelines. Among them, the operation efficiency of ethane has increased by nearly three times, marking that the multimodal transportation system of imported LPG energy at Yantai Port has been upgraded and expanded again, further gathering the advantages of chemical product operations, and injecting strong impetus into Shandong¡äs efforts to build a world-class high-end chemical industry base.
The green petrochemical industry is a pillar industry and a traditional advantageous industry in Yantai City. It has been included in the "goose formation" cluster of the top ten industries in Shandong Province and is one of the first batch of strategic emerging industry clusters in the country. It has formed a multi-category industrial system including basic chemical raw material manufacturing, synthetic material manufacturing, and specialty chemical manufacturing. As an important node connecting the industrial park and the global market, in recent years, Yantai Port has focused on the key tasks of "upgrading the service functions of the port area and promoting the development and operation of the industrial park". Through the "four integrations and one platform", it has jointly laid out the petrochemical product industry chain and supply chain with the port-side chemical industrial park. With the focus on accelerating the "construction of key engineering projects" as a breakthrough, it empowers industrial upgrading and helps the coordinated development of Yantai¡äs green petrochemical industry in a chain, park-based, and clustered manner.
As a key project to implement the Three-Year Action Plan (2023-2025) for the Construction of a Pilot Zone for Green, Low-Carbon and High-Quality Development in Shandong Province, in November 2023, the chemical products project of Yantai Port was officially approved and started construction. In response to the challenge of laying large-diameter pipelines, the project team pioneered the "three-dimensional stratified construction method", prefabricated pipelines using high-strength and corrosion-resistant steel, and completed the precise installation of super-large pipelines within a limited space through the processes of segmented assembly and overall hoisting. After a year of tackling difficulties, the two "industrial arteries" directly reached the Wanhua Yantai Chemical Industrial Park. By efficiently integrating superior resources, it helps to release the production capacity of core businesses such as Wanhua¡äs polyurethane and petrochemical new materials.
The commissioning of the new pipelines has closely connected the port with the port-side chemical industrial park, forming a new model of "front port, rear factory" and becoming a new example of the "integration of three areas" project. At the same time, the newly built project is of great significance for the port to stabilize the import channels of chemical raw materials, develop new types of goods, and ensure the smooth production reaching the designed capacity of the large ethylene project in the second phase of the chemical industrial park.
