The "Hydrogen Corridor" of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor Officially Put into Operation
2025-4-15
On the morning of April 14th, ten hydrogen-powered heavy trucks fully loaded with goods such as chemicals, laptops, and auto parts started their journey after refueling at the Ganshui Hydrogen Refueling Station of Sinopec Chongqing Petroleum. Passing through Guizhou, they will eventually reach Qinzhou Port in Guangxi and head out to sea. China¡äs first cross-regional hydrogen-powered heavy truck trunk line was officially opened up, and it will enter a regular operation stage. This "Hydrogen Corridor" is approximately 1,150 kilometers in total length, with four hydrogen refueling stations set up along the way. It will drive the application scenarios of medium and short-distance feeder logistics in the surrounding areas of Chongqing, Guizhou, and Guangxi. It is an important step in the development of the hydrogen energy industry in China¡äs western region and of great significance for accelerating the construction of an economical, efficient, convenient, green, and safe Western Land-Sea New Corridor.
The "Hydrogen Corridor" of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor is China¡äs first trunk logistics corridor with hydrogen-powered heavy trucks as the core. The four hydrogen refueling stations in the first phase were all constructed by Sinopec, namely the Ganshui Hydrogen Refueling Station in Chongqing, the Comprehensive Bonded Zone Hydrogen Refueling Station in Guiyang, the Weixin Hydrogen Refueling Station in Baise, and the Zhenxing Hydrogen Refueling Station in Nanning, forming a stable hydrogen supply network. The areas along the "Hydrogen Corridor" such as Changshou in Chongqing, Liupanshui in Guizhou, and Baise in Guangxi are rich in hydrogen energy resources. Technologies such as hydrogen production by water electrolysis and hydrogen production by ammonia decomposition have achieved large-scale application. The annual output of industrial by-product hydrogen exceeds 400,000 tons, which can meet the demand of 360,000 logistics vehicles. By constructing long-distance and high-drop trunk hydrogen energy application scenarios and innovating the "land-to-sea" logistics operation mode, it provides a national leading and learnable solution for hydrogen energy transportation under complex geographical conditions.
It is not only a logistics corridor but also an industrial bond. According to the calculation of the operation platform of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, the potential two-way freight sources on the trunk line alone amount to 220,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per year. Moreover, it passes through the Chongqing Highway Logistics Base, Guizhou Express Logistics Park, Shajing Jiangnan Logistics Park in Nanning City, etc., with rich application scenarios. The construction of this "Hydrogen Corridor" will give full play to the resource and industrial advantages of the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities along the line, and establish a development pattern covering the entire hydrogen energy business forms, which includes the "Green Channel Logistics System + Hydrogen Energy Supply System + Hydrogen Energy Industry Innovation System". It will promote the in-depth integration of transportation, energy and industries, achieve a positive interaction between economic and social development and ecological environment protection, and contribute to the construction of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor and the high-quality development of the western region.
