Arkema Announces Production of Bio-based Rheological Additives

As a global leader in the field of specialty materials, Arkema Group recently announced that it would fully transform its entire range of acrylic thickeners produced in Europe into bio-based versions while ensuring consistent high performance of its products. Compared with traditional products, this new series of products will introduce up to 30% bio-based content, which can reduce the product¡äs carbon footprint by up to 25%.

These bio-based acrylic thickeners will be used in Rheotech ™¡¢ Thixol ™  And Viscoatex ™  The brand was launched on the market as one of the first products made from bio-based ethyl acrylate, which Arkema recently announced for production. This key raw material is produced from the acrylic monomer production base of Arkema Group located in Carling, France.

(1)Biobased products refer to those made entirely or partially from biomass raw materials. The biobased content of the product is determined based on the EU EN16640 standard and the carbon-14 content measurement method. The bio based raw materials of this series of products mainly come from beetroot and sugarcane.

(2)The carbon footprint (PCF) of products from cradle to gate includes the biological carbon uptake specified in ISO 14040, 14044, and 14067 standards, compared and calculated with fossil equivalent.
