Shandong Issues Document to Accelerate In-depth Application of Artificial Intelligence

Recently, the General Office of the Shandong Provincial People¡äs Government released the ¡®Implementation Plan for Accelerating the High-quality Development of Key Fields Empowered by Artificial Intelligence¡¯ (hereinafter referred to as the ¡®Plan¡¯), aiming to accelerate the demonstration and application of large models and build a new pattern of high-quality development empowered by artificial intelligence (AI) that features distinct characteristics, demonstrates advantages, and achieves deep integration. 

The ¡®Plan¡¯ proposes that by 2027, Shandong will cultivate 20 basic-level AI large models serving vertical industries, create more than 50 replicable and scalable benchmark application scenarios, and launch over 100 integrated demonstration cases. 

In the "AI + Chemical Industry" sector, the ¡®Plan¡¯ requires promoting intelligent control of the entire production chain in petrochemical, coal chemical, and salt chemical industries, optimizing production processes and energy consumption parameters, accelerating the promotion of vertical large models in new material research and development (R&D), and improving production efficiency, product quality, and energy utilization. It also emphasizes building intelligent safety early-warning systems to strengthen all-round real-time monitoring of chemical enterprises and parks, accelerating intelligent carbon and pollutant emission monitoring to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of environmental governance, and supporting the construction of intelligent management and smart office control centers to improve modern enterprise management.

The ¡®Plan¡¯ specifies key models for the chemical industry: Pangu Large Model, Zhiye Large Model, Tianzhi Industrial Large Model, Supercomputing Lingxi Chemical Industry Large Model, and Guogong Intelligent Chemical Industry Large Model. 

Shandong plans that by 2025, it will promote digital and intelligent upgrades for leading enterprises in the chemical industry chain and two chemical parks, and expand the application of key models in critical fields. By 2027, it aims to achieve in-depth AI application in key leading enterprises of the chemical industry chain and five chemical parks, creating a national "AI + Chemical Industry" innovation and demonstration benchmark. 

Shandong requires coordinating efforts to advance high-quality development empowered by AI, studying important matters, resolving major issues, and promoting the implementation of a number of key application scenarios and major engineering projects.
