The First Large-scale Hydrogen Production Project in Northwest China Completed Full Production
2025-7-3
On June 29th, the Green Power Hydrogen Production Demonstration Project of China Energy Engineering Lanzhou New Area, invested by China Energy Engineering Group Hydrogen Energy Co., Ltd. and EPC contracted by China Gezhouba Group Mechanical and Electrical Construction Co., Ltd., completed full load joint commissioning and produced high-purity hydrogen gas with a purity of 99.9999%. As the first large-scale demonstration project for electrolytic hydrogen production in Northwest China, its commissioning fills the gap in the field of regional green hydrogen preparation.
The project is located in the Chemical Industry Park of Lanzhou New Area, with a planned construction of a 1000Nm ³/h alkaline water electrolysis hydrogen production filling station and supporting facilities, covering operation and maintenance services for the next two years. The green hydrogen produced by the project will be widely used in fields such as transportation, chemical industry, energy storage, food and pharmaceuticals.
During the construction process, the project team achieved the hydrogen production target ahead of schedule in just 175 days. In response to the high adaptability and stability requirements of green electricity hydrogen production, the project team simulated more than 30 extreme working conditions, went through hundreds of fine adjustments, deeply integrated the "wind solar hydrogen storage" multi energy coupling technology, continuously optimized key links such as electrolytic cell temperature control and grid valley/flat electricity intelligent allocation, and finally successfully achieved "green electricity generation through its independently developed intelligent control system.
According to calculations, the project is expected to produce 500 tons of hydrogen annually after it is put into operation, which can meet the high-quality hydrogen raw material needs of companies in the chemical park of Lanzhou New Area. The daily hydrogen supply capacity can support the refueling needs of nearly 100 hydrogen fuel cell buses or nearly 200 hydrogen fuel cell logistics vehicles, providing core energy guarantee for the construction of regional green transportation system and the demonstration of "zero carbon" public transportation.
