40,000 Tons of Liquid Caustic Soda Exported to Australia
2025-7-9
Recently, Shandong Port Yantai Port successfully completed the loading operation of 40,000 tons of liquid caustic soda. This batch of liquid caustic soda, produced in Dongying, was transported to Yantai Port by road for temporary storage before being loaded onto a ship and shipped to Australia. This operation set a new high for the export of liquid caustic soda in a single ship at Yantai Port, demonstrating the port¡äs advantages in the field of chemical product operations. By the end of June, relying on the "road-to-water" mode, the export volume of liquid caustic soda at Yantai Port has increased by 215% year-on-year this year, adding new impetus to Shandong¡äs construction of a domestically leading integrated salt chemical production base, the establishment of an international logistics corridor, and Yantai Port¡äs efforts to build a model of "integration of three zones".
In 2023, the website of Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology publicly released the ¡°14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Shandong¡äs Chemical Industry¡±. The plan clearly proposes to focus on building six major bases and focusing on eight key industries, with the goal of taking the lead in forming a modern chemical industry system in China and building a world-class green chemical industry cluster. Dongying City, located in the central area of the Yellow River Delta, is the core of two major bases: the northern Shandong high-end petrochemical industry base and the central Shandong high-end special chemical industry cluster. It is home to a number of large chemical plants, mainly engaged in the production of salt chemical and petrochemical products. Among them, liquid caustic soda is one of the main export chemical products of the city, which has effectively promoted the local economic development. Yantai Port, located on the coast of the Yellow Sea, has a superior geographical location and is an important node connecting industrial parks with the global market. Relying on this advantage, Yantai Port continues to enhance its port functions and radiation capacity, build an efficient and convenient international logistics corridor, and help "Made in China" go global at an accelerated pace.
In recent years, Yantai Port has focused on the integrated development of salt chemical industry. Relying on the integrated platform of Shandong ports, it has deepened business integration with sister ports and segment groups. Taking the "construction of multimodal transport corridors" as a breakthrough, it has successively opened various multimodal transport corridors such as "Yantai-Weifang", "Longkou-Weifang", "Yantai-Zibo" and "Yantai-South Korea" for raw salt and alkali products, including rail-sea, road-to-water and water-to-water transport. These efforts have effectively promoted the chained, park-based and clustered collaborative development of Shandong¡äs salt chemical industry chain, and accelerated Shandong¡äs transformation from a major chemical province to a strong chemical province.
