Guangxi Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Integration Project Fully Completed
2025-7-21
On the morning of July 14, the 1.2 million tons/year ethylene plant of PetroChina Guangxi Petrochemical Company achieved high-standard mechanical completion, marking the full completion of Guangxi Petrochemical¡äs refining and chemical integration transformation and upgrading project, which has entered the stage of joint commissioning. The project is a major national petrochemical industry planning and layout project, as well as a key project of PetroChina during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. With a total investment of 30.5 billion yuan and covering an area of over 4,400 mu, the project includes 14 new chemical plants such as a 1.2 million tons/year ethylene cracking unit, 2 refining plants including a 2 million tons/year diesel adsorption dearomatization unit, as well as supporting public utilities, storage and transportation, and auxiliary production facilities.
Since the start of construction on July 29, 2023, all participating units have strictly implemented PetroChina¡äs construction concepts, coordinated safety, quality, progress, contracts, investment, and integrity, and achieved off-site modular and overall modular construction of cracking furnaces, modular construction, and non-soil construction, effectively improving PetroChina¡äs project quality and construction efficiency, and providing valuable experience for industrial technological innovation. During the project construction, all participating units solved a series of key and difficult problems and set many industry records, providing strong impetus for the technological development and industrial upgrading of China¡äs petrochemical industry.
The project is scheduled to start feeding and operation on October 18, 2025. After commissioning, it will strongly promote the transformation of Guangxi Petrochemical from a "fuel-oriented" refinery to a "chemical products and organic materials-oriented" enterprise, advance the high-quality development of PetroChina¡äs refining and chemical business, fill the gap in the regional high-end chemical new materials industry, meet the market demand in the areas along the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, and help Guangxi build a trillion-level green chemical new materials industry cluster facing ASEAN.
