Recently, the first batch of 600 50-liter packaging barrels from the Daily Chemicals Operation Department of Sinopec Jianghan Salt Chemical was delivered to an enterprise in Zekou Chemical Park, Qianjiang City, marking the company¡äs success in developing a new business of selling self-use products to external clients.
Sinopec Jianghan Salt Chemical is the world¡äs largest producer of calcium hypochlorite, whose calcium hypochlorite products have been included in Sinopec¡äs core product catalog. With an annual production capacity exceeding 66,000 tons, 90% of its products are exported overseas.
The Daily Chemicals Operation Department mainly manufactures packaging barrels for disinfectant products, with an annual output of 2.5 million units. Faced with challenges such as the shutdown of its strong chlorin plant and overcapacity in packaging barrel production, the company proactively explored channels for external sales. Through systematic analysis, it adopted a dual strategy of "shifting from export-oriented to domestic sales + cross-industry application", targeting packaging demands in chemical parks around Qianjiang City. After five months of negotiations, it successfully signed a contract with an enterprise in Zekou Chemical Park, Qianjiang City, to supply 20,000 50-liter packaging barrels annually. This move resolved the predicament of inventory occupying 135,000 yuan in cash flow and 100 square meters of storage space.
In the process of exploring the market, the department screened 10 chemical enterprises and finally identified two potential clients. To address the clients¡ä concerns, it launched a "technology + service" package: providing inspection reports from Jingzhou Customs, verifying a 9-month service commitment, and demonstrating that compared with the clients¡ä existing packaging solutions, its products could save them 300,000 yuan annually; customizing "quality guarantee + regular inspection" services to meet clients¡ä needs for containing aluminum trichloride, thus dispelling their doubts; and offering visualized data showing that the turnover cycle of packaging barrels could be shortened from 180 days to 30 days, reducing clients¡ä logistics costs by 60%. These efforts helped clients recognize the benefits of local procurement and ultimately led to the cooperation.
"These packaging barrels have advantages in both quality and cost-effectiveness, and are sturdier than the ones we used before," said a representative from the client enterprise after a one-month trial, affirming their decision to use packaging barrels produced by Sinopec Jianghan Salt Chemical.
To further tackle the inventory issue of packaging barrels, Sinopec Jianghan Salt Chemical plans to build an industrial packaging sharing platform. By leveraging blockchain, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence technologies, it aims to realize cross-enterprise inventory visualization and full-life-cycle monitoring of containers, injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of the enterprise.
