Ningdong Energy Chemical’s High Salt Water Efficient Oxidation Project Successfully Launched

2025-9-15

Recently, the high-efficiency oxidation industrial application project of Ningxia Ningdong Energy Chemicals high salt water has been successfully launched, with the operating indicators reaching the design standards, marking the company′s important progress in promoting green and low-carbon development and improving sewage treatment capability.

The company is equipped with the first comprehensive zero discharge wastewater project in the coal chemical sector of Sinopec - a high salinity water treatment unit, which is used to treat the high salinity water generated in the coal chemical production process and reuse the treated water in the production circulation system. In the actual processing, due to the limitations of the original process, some difficult to degrade organic matter enters the subsequent membrane treatment system, resulting in an increase in energy consumption and affecting the overall operating efficiency of the unit. Therefore, the development and application of efficient technology for removing recalcitrant organic compounds from high salinity water has become the key to enhancing the company′s sewage treatment capability.

To solve this technical problem, the company collaborated with Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Processing Company conduct industry research and technology comparison and ultimately decided to introduce the advanced oxidation process technology of UV/ozone coupling developed by the Institute. On the basis of utilizing existing facilities, a technological transformation will be carried out on the high salt water reduction ozone contact tank to develop an efficient oxidation system.

During the project construction period, the technical team from Sinopec Research Institute went to the Ningdong Energy Chemical site to verify that the technology can efficiently remove recalcitrant organic matter under real working conditions, providing data support for subsequent industrial applications. The companys process, equipment and operation personnel have worked through the joint efforts of multiple positions and specialties and overcome equipment debugging difficulties, ensuring smooth and controllable operation of the unit from debugging to feeding.

After the project is put into operation, it will provide valuable technical experience for wastewater treatment in the coal chemical industry and inject new momentum into the sustainable development of the company.
