At 15:18 on October 16, the 400,000-ton/year polypropylene plant of the Guangxi Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Integration Transformation and Upgrading Project, constructed by the Guangxi Project Department of the Third Branch Company, successfully produced the first batch of qualified products and achieved successful commissioning on the first try.

This plant adopts the Unipol gas-phase fluidized bed reaction polymerization patent technology from Grace Inc. of the United States. It is the plant with the longest process flow, the largest number of equipment, the most types of equipment and the most comprehensive range of producible product grades among the applications of the same process technology in China. The plant can produce a full range of products totaling 254 grades, including homopolymers, ethylene-propylene random copolymers, impact copolymers, propylene-butylene random copolymers and terpolymers.

The plant started construction on December 10, 2023, and began feeding and commissioning on October 15, 2025, with a construction period of 22 months.

The successful commissioning of the 400,000-ton/year polypropylene plant of Guangxi Petrochemical is not only the crystallization of the wisdom and hard work of the construction team, but also a model for the efficient construction of large-scale chemical plants under complex working conditions. It has laid a solid foundation for the full commissioning of the Guangxi Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Integration Transformation and Upgrading Project.
