2025-10-28
On October 19th, exciting news came from Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technological Development Zone: the 150,000 tons/year PDO/PTT integrated plant of Ningbo Juhua Chemical & Science Co., LTD. successfully completed feedstock commissioning and trial production, yielding the first batch of qualified products and achieving one-time successful startup. As a key project under Zhejiang Province¡¯s "Thousand Projects with Trillion-Yuan Investment" initiative, its successful commissioning not only injects strong momentum into the high-end new material industry chain of the development zone, but also marks a crucial step in breaking the long-term foreign technological monopoly in China¡¯s polyester new material sector and advancing the localization of the entire industrial chain.
The plant launched by Ningbo Juhua this time is currently the world¡¯s largest single-unit capacity PDO/PTT integrated production project. Adopting a chemical process¡ªdeveloped through technology introduction, digestion, absorption and re-innovation¡ªthis technology outperforms the internationally mainstream biological process in terms of process stability and raw material supply security. It not only successfully breaks the previous technological monopoly, but also establishes an efficient closed-loop circular production system.
A relevant person in charge of the Industrial Development Bureau of Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technological Development Zone stated that this project not only demonstrates the development zone¡¯s comprehensive capabilities in undertaking major industrial projects and optimizing the innovation ecosystem, but also sets a benchmark for the subsequent introduction and cultivation of more projects targeting "chokepoint" technological breakthroughs. In the future, the development zone will continue to optimize the business environment and accelerate the construction of a world-class park featuring "world-leading standards, high technology and integration".
