Recently, the packaging and warehouse of the polypropylene unit in the Fujian Zhongsha Gulei Ethylene Project, which was contracted by China National Chemical Engineering Hualu Company, successfully achieved mechanical completion.

The Zhongsha Gulei Ethylene Project is the largest one-time investment in a Sino-foreign joint venture in Fujian Province to date. It is jointly invested and constructed by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), Fujian Energy Petrochemical Group, and Zhangzhou Jiulongjiang Construction Group. The project includes a world-class-scale 1.5 million tons/year ethylene unit (with an estimated annual production capacity of up to 1.8 million tons) and downstream deep-processing combined facilities.

Ethylene and downstream—The ethylene production capacity is 1.5 million tons/year. For downstream processing, the project plans to build a 10/100 thousand tons/year ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol unit, a 400 thousand tons/year HDPE unit, a 600 thousand tons/year(mLLDPE/HDPE unit, and a 5 thousand tons/year 1-hexene unit.

Propylene and downstream — It is planned to include the construction of a 400,000-ton/year polypropylene (impact/irregular) plant and a 550,000-ton/year polypropylene (homopolymer/irregular) plant. Additionally, some downstream projects include a 250,000/150,000-ton/year phenol-acetone plant, a 270,000-ton/year bisphenol A plant, and a 290,000-ton/year polycarbonate plant.

Additionally, supporting facilities include a 910,000-ton/year cracked gasoline hydrogenation unit (with styrene extraction), a 220,000-ton/year butadiene extraction unit, a 56,000-ton/year 1-butene unit, and a 570,000-ton/year aromatic extraction unit.
