650¡æ! World¡äs First Unit Breaks Ground

On November 8, the first concrete pouring of the Phase IV project of Huaneng Yuhuan Power Plant ¡ª the world¡äs first 650¡æ high-efficiency ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generating unit ¡ª was completed, marking its entry into the full-scale construction phase.
It is reported that the Phase IV project of Huaneng Yuhuan Power Plant plans to build one 1 million-kilowatt-class 650¡æ high-efficiency ultra-supercritical single reheat coal-fired power generating unit. Both the main steam and reheat steam temperatures of the unit reach 650¡æ, and its designed main steam pressure hits 35 megapascals, making it the coal-fired unit with the highest parameters globally to date.
A core component of the high-parameter thermal power unit is the new high-temperature alloy material. The unit adopts a domestically developed new high-temperature alloy material with independent intellectual property rights by China Huaneng Group, realizing full independent control of key high-temperature material technologies.
Relevant responsible persons stated that the 650¡æ high-efficiency ultra-supercritical coal-fired power unit can significantly improve power generation efficiency, increasing it by about 4% compared with existing units. The coal consumption per kilowatt-hour of electricity generated will be reduced by an average of about 10%, and carbon dioxide emissions can be cut by approximately 450,000 tonnes per year.
