Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology announced the relevant information regarding the launch of preparatory work for the zone expansion of Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base.

In accordance with the provisions of the Administrative Measures for Chemical Industrial Parks in Jiangsu Province, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology publicized the details of the preparatory work for the expansion of Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base. According to the announcement, the existing planned area of Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base is 61.34 square kilometers, and it is proposed to include part of Banqiao Industrial Park into the expansion scope. The planned area of the expanded zone is 9.8 square kilometers, with its four boundaries defined as: east to National Highway 228, south to Road No. 9, west to Jingang Road, and north to Taihe Road. After the expansion, the total area will reach 71.14 square kilometers, divided into two zones.

As one of the seven national petrochemical industry bases planned and laid out by the state, Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base has formed an industrial pattern integrating "refining-chemical integration + high-end new materials + green energy". At present, the base has gathered three leading enterprises: the "aromatics and olefins" dual-chain petrochemical industry chain represented by Shenghong Refining & Chemical Integration Project; the high-end petrochemical industry chain represented by the Lianyungang Petrochemical Light Hydrocarbon Comprehensive Utilization Project invested by Satellite Chemical; and Sinochem Lianyungang Circular Economy Industrial Park, which utilizes upstream and downstream products within the base to form an interdependent composite industry chain.
