Shenma Chlor-Alkali Chemical Completes Saltwater Pretreatment Process Upgrade

2025-12-4

Recently, the pretreatment process modification project for brine at Shenma Chlor-Alkali Chemical was completed, providing strong support for the stable release of the company¡äs annual caustic soda production capacity of 220,000 tons.

It is reported that as the company¡äs caustic soda production capacity increased, the originally designed primary brine pretreatment system with an annual processing capacity of 125,000 tons gradually became "overwhelmed." This led to insufficient reaction time after mixing the brine with refining agents. The unreacted calcium and magnesium ions, along with residual excess alkali, formed salt sludge that continuously accumulated in the storage tanks. This not only affected production efficiency by increasing the frequency of equipment cleaning and but also interfered with the purity of secondary brine, limiting the plant¡äs full-load operation.

To enhance quality and efficiency, the company¡äs caustic soda plant formed a project team for the pre-treatment process reform of primary brine in June. They developed a dual-path reform plan combining "equipment upgrades + process optimization," while simultaneously implementing specialized technical upgrades for the brine booster pump system to comprehensively address process and equipment shortcomings.

The team upgraded two high-flow brine transfer pumps and replaced four plate heat exchangers with two high-efficiency large-scale brine heat exchangers to enhance delivery capacity, stability, and thermal energy recovery efficiency. Additionally, they added reaction tanks and baffled slots to ensure thorough mixing and reaction of sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, and brine, which is then pumped to the pretreatment unit via high-power booster pumps, significantly improving clear liquid yield and quality. Furthermore, the team innovatively implemented a "new storage tank + variable frequency regulation" system for the brine booster pump system, effectively mitigating raw material fluctuations and enhancing system stability. Currently, the company continues optimizing related processes to ensure the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the production system.
