The Modification of the Huadian Wind-Solar Hydrogen Integration Project Approved

2025-12-10

On December 3, the Baotou Development and Reform Commission issued an approval on the modification of construction content and investment for the Huadian Damaoqi Wind-Solar-Hydrogen Integration Project in Inner Mongolia.

The revised construction content is as follows:
Power supply project
The total installed capacity of new energy power generation is 1,000 MW, including 700 MW for wind power and 300 MW for photovoltaics. This involves the installation of 70 wind turbines with a single-unit capacity of 10 MW each. The photovoltaic panels will utilize 710-740 Wp semi-cell double-glass N-type battery modules. Supporting infrastructure includes the construction of a 100 MW/200 MWh lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage station, two 220 kV booster stations, and associated equipment such as access roads and collector lines.

Hydrogen production project
The project entails the installation of 83 alkaline electrolyzers with a capacity of 1,000 Nm³/h, one with 2,000 Nm³/h, and one with 3,000 Nm³/h, enabling an annual hydrogen production of 47,000 tons. Additionally, 25 hydrogen storage tanks with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters each will be configured, providing a total storage capacity of 650,000 Nm³. Supporting facilities include the construction of a 220 kV main hydrogen production substation.

Power grid project
New 220 kV transmission lines will be built. a 14.94-kilometer single-circuit line between Booster Station #1 and Booster Station #2, and a 23.83-kilometer double-circuit line between Booster Station #1 and the main hydrogen production substation. Two 48-core OPGW optical cables will be installed alongside the new transmission lines.

The revised total investment is 5.76 billion yuan, with 30% allocated as capital funds and the remaining portion financed through bank loans.
