Fujian¡äs Wind-to-Hydrogen Technology Verification Platform Secures Grid-Connection Approval

It was learned from Fujian Energy Petrochemical Group that the Wind-to-Hydrogen Technology Verification Platform project at Fujian Green Hydrogen Pilot Test Base has successfully passed the special assessment by the expert group of the Renewable Energy Power Generation Engineering Quality Supervision Station and officially obtained the grid-connection approval, marking a crucial step for the project from the construction phase to commissioning and operation.

Constructed jointly by Fujian Energy Petrochemical Group and Academician Zheng Nanfeng from the Tan Kah Kee Innovation Laboratory of Xiamen University, the Fujian Green Hydrogen Pilot Test Base project¡¯s successful acquisition of grid-connection approval not only serves as an authoritative endorsement of the project¡¯s engineering quality and technical reliability, but also holds far-reaching demonstration value for the industry.

As a secondary energy source with abundant sources, green and low-carbon attributes and wide applications, hydrogen energy is an important component of the national energy system in the future. As a key pilot test and verification project for the development of hydrogen energy industry in Fujian Province, this platform takes 20MW wind-to-hydrogen as its core hub, enabling the in-depth integration of renewable energy and the hydrogen energy industry.

The project aims to conduct pilot tests and verification on water electrolysis for hydrogen production under fluctuating wind power output and the consumption and utilization of green hydrogen applications, build an empirical platform for green hydrogen production and the diversified comprehensive utilization of hydrogen-based energy, and establish a standardized energy system evaluation center, a green hydrogen application safety test and verification center, as well as a hydrogen energy equipment testing and certification base. It will accelerate the construction of the empirical chain of "offshore energy - hydrogen energy storage - hydrogen-based energy applications", and provide an innovative solution for the efficient utilization of large-scale far-reaching offshore wind power in Fujian Province and the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system.

It is reported that after commissioning, the project will effectively improve the regional renewable energy consumption capacity, accelerate the implementation of green hydrogen energy applications in key fields such as transportation and industry, help Fujian Province further expand the hydrogen energy industry ecosystem, inject strong impetus into the energy structure transformation under the "dual carbon" goals, and more importantly, provide a replicable and promotable Fujian Model for the high-quality development of the national green hydrogen energy industry.
