Construction of National-Level Zero-Carbon Park Launched in Baotou Rare Earth Hi-Tech Zone
2026-1-23
On January 17, the construction of the national-level zero-carbon park in Baotou Rare Earth Hi-Tech Zone ¡ª one of China¡¯s first batch of zero-carbon park pilots ¡ª kicked off in Baotou, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Adopting a park-in-park model, the zero-carbon park in Baotou Rare Earth Hi-Tech Zone comprises a rare earth industrial park and a high-end equipment manufacturing industrial park, and has fostered distinctive pillar industries such as rare earths, photovoltaic and energy storage to date. As a pilot among China¡¯s first batch of zero-carbon parks, its core mission is to provide a replicable Baotou Solution for the systematic resolution of carbon emission reduction challenges in heavy industry clusters across the country. The park has clearly formulated a two-phase strategic roadmap: during 2025-2027, it will focus on tackling foundational projects including green power substitution and energy-saving retrofits; during 2028-2035, it will center on system integration and smart convergence, advance the consolidation and upgrading of zero-carbon achievements, and realize an all-round leap in the park¡¯s energy efficiency and carbon emission management capabilities.
The insider stated: "The park will strive to complete the target of building a national-level zero-carbon park by the end of 2027 through efforts such as constructing direct green power transmission channels, developing new energy projects, demonstrating the utilization of hydrogen energy, and promoting collaborative energy conservation and carbon reduction across multiple industries."
