The Absorption Volume of Green Electricity in Xinjiang Surged By 230% Year-On-Year In 2025

2026-1-26

According to Xinjiang Electric Power Trading Center Co., Ltd., the annual absorption volume of green electricity in Xinjiang hit 43.43 billion kilowatt-hours in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 230%, marking a record high in scale.

Of the total green electricity absorbed in Xinjiang throughout 2025, 3.17 billion kilowatt-hours were transacted via green electricity trading, and 40.259 million green electricity certificates were traded, equivalent to 40.26 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity. The channels for green electricity absorption have been continuously expanded and the structure optimized. Such a volume of green electricity is equivalent to a reduction of 13.13 million tons of standard coal combustion and 35.47 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, delivering remarkable results in green development.

Xinjiang is a large-scale clean energy base planned and constructed by the state, boasting unique endowments in new energy resources and distinct advantages in green energy development. By the end of 2025, the installed capacity of new energy in Xinjiang Power Grid exceeded 161 million kilowatts, accounting for more than 60% of the total installed power generation capacity, laying a solid foundation for green electricity absorption.

To further boost green electricity absorption, the autonomous region has successively issued policy documents including the energy use budget management plan and the implementation plan for renewable power absorption, specifying the green electricity consumption ratios for key industries and enterprises such as electrolytic aluminum, iron and steel, polysilicon, cement and data centers, and precisely assigning absorption responsibilities to end users. Meanwhile, it has guided all prefectures and cities across Xinjiang to issue supporting implementation plans for renewable energy absorption, urged key energy-consuming entities to proactively expand green electricity absorption scale, and established a working mechanism for green electricity absorption featuring interconnection between higher and lower levels and joint management by all parties.
