CCAIA Attended the Economic Operation Analysis Symposium for Key Industries in the Petrochemical and Chemical Systems

On January 16, a symposium on the economic operation analysis of key industries in the petrochemical and chemical sector was held in Beijing. Attendees included He Hailin, Deputy Director of the Operation Monitoring and Coordination Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Yang Songfeng, Deputy Director of the Petrochemical Division under the Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Fu Xiangsheng, Vice President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. The meeting was also attended by representatives from China Chlor Alkali Industry Association, China Soda Industry Association, China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, China Phosphate Fertilizer Industry Association, China Crop Protection Industry Association, China Rubber Industry Association, China National Coatings Industry Association, China Synthetic Resin Association and China Association of Fluorine and Siiicone lndustry among other organizations. Vice President and Secretary-General Zhang Peichao and Vice Secretary-General Zheng Jiebin of CCAIA participated.

While the meeting was chaired by Fu Xiangsheng, each association presented the economic operation status of its respective industry and proposed targeted policy recommendations. CCAIA¡¯s Secretary-General Zhang Peichao outlined the economic operation of the chlor-alkali industry in 2025, including continued growth in the production capacity of leading products, market fluctuations, and increased exports of caustic soda and polyvinyl chloride. He also highlighted challenges such as uncontrolled scale expansion, alkali-chlorine imbalance, weak downstream consumption, and rising international competitive pressures. Policy recommendations included continued strict control over the unregulated growth of caustic soda production capacity, support for addressing trade barriers in the Indian market, and export tax rebate policies for caustic soda and polyvinyl chloride.
