China¡äs Annual Hydrogen Production Capacity from Renewable Energy Exceeds 250,000 Tons

On January 30, Bian Guangqi, Deputy Director of the Energy Conservation and Science and Technology Equipment Department of the National Energy Administration, stated at a quarterly press conference that the hydrogen energy industry is gradually achieving orderly breakthroughs during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. By the end of 2025, China¡äs renewable energy hydrogen production projects will have a cumulative annual capacity exceeding 250,000 tons, doubling the previous year¡äs output. Projects in Kuqa (Xinjiang), Ningdong (Ningxia), Chifeng (Inner Mongolia), Da¡äan and Songyuan (Jilin) have been completed and put into operation, gradually establishing a fully integrated hydrogen production, storage, transportation and application industrial chain. Significant technological advancements in major equipment have been made, laying a solid foundation for the development of the hydrogen energy industry.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the National Energy Administration will collaborate closely with relevant departments such as the National Development and Reform Commission to strengthen industry planning guidance, enhance policy support, advance core technology breakthroughs, promote hydrogen energy pilot projects, improve the standard certification system, deepen international exchanges and cooperation and vigorously cultivate the future hydrogen energy industry.
