The Ethylene Project of Dushanzi Petrochemical Entered the Production Phase

On February 11, in the vast Tarim Basin, the A/B cryogenic boxes of the air separation unit in the Tarim Phase II ethylene project¡ªa landmark achievement in China¡äs energy and chemical industry¡ªsuccessfully produced qualified nitrogen and completed handover. This pivotal milestone marks a significant turning point in the project¡äs construction, transitioning the facility from the engineering phase to the operational stage.

Rich in oil and gas resources, the Tarim Basin serves as a crucial safeguard for national energy security. "As a key initiative to transform local resource advantages into economic strengths, extend the chemical industry chain, and promote regional economic development, the construction of the Tarim Phase II Ethylene Project holds significant importance," said Wang Jingtao, Director of the Xinjiang Execution Center and Project Manager of Kunlun Engineering¡äs Dalian Branch.

As the "gas guarantee" for ethylene production, the air separation unit is responsible for providing high-purity oxygen, nitrogen and other industrial gases, and its stable and efficient operation is crucial. The handover of the air separation unit signifies that the core utility engineering phase of the project has met the conditions for commissioning, providing strong support for the planned completion and operation of the entire ethylene project.

It is reported that this air separation unit was EPC contracted by Kunlun Dalian Branch, encompassing 19 unit projects with complex design and construction, high technical standards and coordination challenges. The main engineering tasks include laying 9.2 kilometers of process pipelines, welding equivalent to 46,000 inches, fabricating and installing 1 storage tank, mounting 74 types of equipment, installing a total of 1,177 tons of steel structures, laying 177,000 meters of electrical and instrumentation cables, and installing 554 sets of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
