Yueyang Ethylene Project Expected to Be Completed and Put into Operation in 2028
2026-2-28
With a total investment of 35.68 billion yuan, the project is located in Yueyang, Hunan Province. It is planned to advance construction in 2026 and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2028. As the largest single-investment industrial project in Hunan Province to date, the project will be implemented in the mode of "1 million tons/year ethylene + supporting oil refining renovation", with 14 new chemical plants to be built.
The main construction contents of the ethylene project include: 1 million tons/year ethylene plant, 500,000 tons/year pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation plant, 300,000 tons/year aromatics extraction plant, 300,000 tons/year aromatics-to-benzene plant, 150,000 tons/year butadiene extraction plant, 20,000 tons/year styrene extraction plant, 300,000 tons/year EVA plant, 400,000 tons/year HDPE plant, 400,000 tons/year LLDPE plant, and 100,000/40,000 tons/year MTBE/butene-1 plant.
The main procurement equipment includes equipment related to the 1 million tons/year ethylene plant and 14 downstream chemical plants, involving production equipment such as cracking furnaces, polymerization reactors, ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol plants, polyethylene/polypropylene plants, butadiene extraction plants, styrene plants, as well as supporting facilities such as storage tanks, pumps and valves, heat exchangers, compressors. At the same time, supporting automation and safety control systems such as DCS control system and SIS safety instrument system will be built.
After the completion of the project, it will fill the gap of large-scale ethylene plants in Hunan Province and improve the layout of the petrochemical industry chain in Central and Southern China.
