Progress of Wanhua Chemical¡äs Haiyang Green Power Industrial Park Project

On March 28, Wanhua Chemical held a ceremony for the commissioning of the Phase I project and the groundbreaking of Phase II at its Haiyang Green Power Industrial Park in Yantai. The industrial park is primarily under construction to house production facilities for 500,000 tons per year of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials and 300,000 tons per year of artificial graphite anode materials. The commissioned Phase I project has an annual capacity of 100,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate.
It is reported that the Wanhua Haiyang Green Power Industrial Park, located in Haiyang City, Yantai, covers a total area of approximately 1,850 mu (about 123.3 hectares) with a planned total investment of 16.8 billion yuan. It has been listed as a Major Shandong Provincial Project in 2025, a Provincial Pilot Project for Source-Grid-Load-Storage Integration, and a Provincial Green Power Industrial Park Pilot Park. Among them, Phase I project broke ground on June 26, 2025, completed power supply on February 6, 2026, started trial production on March 25, and achieved successful one-time start-up and produced qualified products on March 27.
The project adopts world-class technology for lithium iron phosphate cathode materials. The products feature high energy density, ultra-long cycle life, and excellent safety performance, fully meeting the diverse demands of the power battery and energy storage markets. Leveraging the breakthroughs by Wanhua Battery Material R&D Center¡äs innovation team of over 800 members, the project enables the mass production of the 4th-generation battery materials. This leads the technological development of energy storage cell materials, offering significant enhancements in cell volume energy density and system integration compared with mainstream products on the market. Currently, the project enjoys robust market demand and has signed strategic cooperation agreements with leading domestic and international customers. To promote local absorption of green power and address green trade barriers, the project explores green power trading and direct green power connection models, fully unleashing the coupled development effect of "Green Power + New Quality Productive Forces."
Currently, the construction of Phase II project of Wanhua Haiyang Green Power Industrial Park is in full swing, with an expected commissioning by the end of 2026. This will further consolidate Wanhua¡äs leading position in the field of new energy battery materials.
