Xinjiang¡äs Cross-Region Green Power Exports Exceed 300 Billion kWh Cumulatively

2026-4-2

It was learned from Xinjiang Electric Power Trading Center Co., Ltd. that since the launch of cross-region power transmission from Xinjiang in 2010, the cumulative export volume of new energy power in Xinjiang has reached 304.36 billion kWh to date, accounting for nearly 30% of Xinjiang¡äs total power exports.

This volume of new energy power is equivalent to saving about 92 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 249 million tons and sulfur dioxide emissions by about 780,000 tons, as well as the environmental effect equivalent to planting more than 11 billion green trees. It has strongly supported pollution and carbon reduction in central and eastern China.

Xinjiang boasts abundant wind and solar energy resources. By the end of 2025, six 10-gigawatt-level new energy bases had been built in the region, with a total installed capacity of new energy reaching 169 million kW, accounting for 64% of Xinjiang¡äs total installed power capacity. State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. has continuously strengthened its power grid infrastructure, optimized market mechanisms, and refined dispatching operations, forming a main grid structure featuring "seven internal supply ring networks and five external transmission channels". As of March 11, Xinjiang¡äs cross-region power export volume in the year exceeded 30 billion kWh, 14 days earlier than in 2025, setting a new record for the fastest growth in history.

To efficiently accommodate fluctuating new energy power, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. has also established an all-factor automatic power generation control system and innovatively launched a "peak-shifting green power trading" model, achieving precise matching between midday power generation in Xinjiang and evening power consumption in central and eastern China. In 2025, Xinjiang¡äs new energy power exports reached 44.382 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 13.03%, accounting for 33.25% of total power exports, marking an optimized structure where one out of every three units of power transmitted from Xinjiang is green power.
