Recently, Ineos Inovyn, the vinyl chloride subsidiary under Ineos Group, has reached an agreement to sell its chlor-alkali business in Italy to Esercizio Industriale, and the transaction amount has not been disclosed to the public.
Ineos Inovyn owns two chlor-alkali production bases in Italy, namely Rosignano and Tavazzano. The annual production capacity of the Rosignano base stands at 169,000 tons of caustic soda and 150,000 tons of chlorine. The Tavazzano base mainly uses chlorine produced by the former to manufacture sodium hypochlorite. Its related products are mainly supplied to customers in the fields of energy, pharmaceuticals, food, water treatment, construction and national defense.
Ineos stated that this asset sale is part of its strategic adjustment of European business. It will not affect the company¡äs core operations and helps the group focus on its highly integrated and industry-leading PVC and core chlor-alkali main businesses in Europe. The transaction is still subject to routine regulatory approval and the delivery is expected to be completed within 2026. Prior to the completion of the delivery, the two plant sites will continue to be operated by Ineos Inovyn, with existing customer partnerships and supply chain cooperation remaining unchanged. Meanwhile, the R&D sector of the Rosignano base will be retained within the original corporate system.
The acquirer Esercizio Industriale is a holding company of Italy¡äs Esercizio Group. The group has laid out 8 production bases locally and already operates multiple chlor-alkali production facilities.
